Xirong Guo,

male, of Han nationality, born in Baoying county of Jiangsu province in January 1966, has been the professor of medicine, the doctoral supervisor and the young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions. He graduated from the Pediatric Department of Nanjing Medical College with a bachelor's degree in 1987. After that he worked in the Child Health Care Research Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. He obtained the master¡¯s and doctor¡¯s degree in pediatrics in Nanjing Medical University respectively in 1993 and 1999. He took the posts of associate professor, associate professor of treatment, supervisor of master¡¯s degree candidates, vice director of Pediatrics Research Institute of Nanjing Medical University in 2000, took the posts of doctoral supervisor and low-title-high-rank chief physician in 2004, and took the post of head of research and education department of the Nanjing Health Care Hospital for Women & Children affiliated with Nanjing Medical University in 2005. He has been professor, chief of pediatrics medical research institute, the pace-setter of pediatrics of the key department of Jiangsu province since 2006, and the post of assistant to the president of the Nanjing healthcare hospital for women & children affiliated with Nanjing Medical University since the beginning of 2007. Now he is a young committee member of the pediatric branch of the 13th Chinese Medical Association, the director of medical association of Jiangsu Province, the managing director of the Nutrition Society of Jiangsu Province, the vice chairman of the children health care committee of Preventive Medicine Association of Jiangsu Province, an executive member of Children¡¯s Healthcare Committee of Association for Improving Birth Outcome and Child Development of Jiangsu Province, a member of the sixth pediatrics branch committee of Medical Society of Jiangsu Province, an associate editor of ¡°Journal of Practical Clinical Pediatrics¡±, a member of the editorial board of ¡°Progress of International Pediatrics¡±, ¡° Jiangsu Medical Journal¡±, ¡°Clinical Examination Journal", "Journal of Nanjing Medical University", and the draft expert of "Acta Pharmacoligica Sinica" and " Journal of Biological Engineering of China", etc. .
Main research fields: molecular mechanism of children's obesity and its complications. He has presided 2 projects financed by National Natural Science Funds, 1 project financed by Natural Science Fund of Jiangsu Province, and several funds from provincial department and bureau in recent years. He has won the third prize of Chinese Medical Science (2004), the third prize for scientific and technological progress of Jiangsu province(2003), the second prize for scientific and technological progress of Nanjing (2004), and the second prize for scientific and technological progress from Jiangsu Province Education Commission (1996). Since 2003, based in Pediatric Research Institute of Nanjing Medical University as the workbench, he has published 9 SCI papers in international academic journals, more than 100 papers in Chinese core journals. He has discovered 5 new fat-related full-length genes (AY272059, AY292988, NM _ 181768, AY313923, AY317148) and applied for 3 national patents. He has participated in the compilation of 4 professional works. He has won the ninth award for young scientists in Jiangsu (2006), the second prize for remarkable achievement in nutrition science in the ¡°Heinz Cup¡± award for achievement in nutrition for Chinese infants and pre-school children (2004), and such titles aspace-setting specialist of medicine in Jiangsu Province(2007), the title of key medical specialist in Jiangsu Province (2006), the academic leader of ¡°Green and Blue Project¡± of Jiangsu Province Education Department (2002), the third echelon trainee of ¡°Jiangsu Province 333 Project¡± (2007).
