The system of parents inspectors
The new situation of the work of student affairs requires that a new communication system be set up so that the university and students'parents can communicate and cooperate with each other better in their effort to build an open and socialist university.The University-Family Cooperation System,an observation system with characteristics of Nanjing Medical University,was established in 2004 and has proved to be scientific,effective and produced so much favorable comment.Under this system,every month,parents of different students are invited to observe and inspect the university about its work of teaching,management,logistics,campus security,and student affairs.Inspectors' suggestions and criticisems are then fed back to the university authorities.Students'parents are also invited to participate in varous cultural activities such as giving reports or lectures, pushing forward the teaching and administrative work of our university.
The Education Campaign of Showing Gratitude
Gratitude is not only the feeling of being grateful but also the sense of responsibility and the state of elevated mind.The idea of showing gratitude comes from the slow but steady accumulation of cultural spirit.The feeling of being grateful contributes to the building of one's fine character and beautiful personality and can be turned into the concrete action of repaying others'kindness.Untiring efforts have been made in our university to raise students'awareness of showing gratitude. The focal point of our gratitude education campaign is to help students understand the importance of showing gratitude, employ the grace of gratitude in little things in their lives,and learn to show gratitude to their parents,other people,the society,the Party and the motherland.
The Three Hundred's Project
There are internal relations between the Chinese culture, moral principles and medical ethics. All the students are asked upon their entry into Nanjing Medical University to take part in the"Three Hundred's Project": to read a hundred good books, to recite a hundred good poems , and to sing a hundred good songs.This project is aimed to train qualified medical talents of all-round ability with the fine traditional Chinese culture, the history knowledge and the common achievements of the human civilization.On the one hand, good books, poems and songs are recommended to the students, and on the other hand, elaberate plans are made to carry out varied and colourful cultural activities, providing opportunities for the students to demonstrate their talent and ability, and creating a strong cultural atmosphere of campus in which the students mould their temperament, enrich their mind, promote their virtue, and come to see the true meaning of life.
