The faculty in College English Department ? have been making great efforts to accomplish teaching tasks by regularly holding academic symposiums, mutually attending lectures, frequently communicating with students and learning from peers from other colleges and universities. They are fully aware it’s their pursuit to adopt the most effective methods to fulfill their mission. Knowing ahead of what’s “in” in college English teaching, most young faculty dare to attempt new ideas and methods in their teaching practice. As a result, the students benefit greatly from their flexible and effective teaching styles.

“We are here just for you.” That’s their motto. They have managed to imbue their students with PBL methods. At the same time, they advocate “Any questions and suggestions from you are welcome anywhere, any time.” More often than not, the teachers get e-mails from their students, suggesting “Could you explain GREENHOUSE EFFECT in greater detail in the next period?” or expressing “I really love your lecture today!” What a harmonious teacher-student relationship they enjoy!

The wonderful classrooms are always what both teachers and students are expecting. Students are encouraged to speak about various topics, such as “What do you think of ‘Ladies First’ in the modern society?” and “Why are some girl graduates denied job opporuties?” Students shoot up their hands and express their opinions. Sometimes, the whole class laugh. Sometimes, the whole class are shocked. Anyway, they are always well prepared and treasure the opportunities for practising their spoken English. More significantly, both teachers and students actively get themselves involed in classroom activities, relish them and benefit from them.

While they arrange fascinating classroom activities, teachers also try every possible means to help students score high on CET-4 and CET-6. Thanks to their efforts, students have performed wonderfully well in these national English tests.

The faculty in College English Department ?have never faced greater challenges. How to teach efficiently and effectively is always what they are considering. To improve their teaching, they have done some scientific research in their academic fields, such as linguistics, literature and culture. In the past several years, they have published some books and research papaers that have won them respect from their colleagues and students.
