The department is staffed with 12 teachers, of whom 2 are associate professors, 4 lecturers and 6 assistant lecturers. Also, of the 12 teachers, 5 are Master’s degree holders. Most teachers in the department are under thirty years old, constituting a united, dynamic, and creative teaching team.
The department undertakes College English teaching of the undergraduates of all majors at Nanjing Medical University, including the 5-year-program and the 7-year-program students, amounting to over 4000 class hours each year.
The department attaches great importance to College English teaching and takes an active part in the reform of College English teaching model. In order to help their students achieve the objectives set by College English Curriculum Requirements, all the teachers of the department keep on exploring new teaching methods to improve their teaching efficiency and effect. In addition, aiming at broadening the students’ scope of knowledge and enhancing the students’ cultural perceptions, the department has taken such effective measures as multimedia classroom teaching, face-to-face coaching, independent learning under teachers’ guidance, and various campus activities. As a result, most students’ horizon of English has been enlarged and their all-round ability to use the language has been improved as well.
