Professor Liu Xinmin, Dean of the College of International Studies of Nanjing Medical University, once studied at the English Department of Pittsburg State University, U.S.A., from which he graduated in 1993 with an MA degree in English and American literature. Ever since he came back from the U.S., Professor Liu has been teaching the following four courses to English majors: English Romantic Poetry, Victorian Literature, Research Paper Writing, and Advanced English.

Professor Liu’s academic research covers mainly nineteenth-century British and American literature and English education. His major publications include: (with others) A Practical English Grammar and Techniques for Examinations (1991), Selected Works from 19th Century English Literature (1999), (chief editor) Standard Formats for English Research Papers (2003), (chief editor) A New Practical English-Chinese Dictionary (2003), 《觉醒》(1997; a translation, the original: The Awakening by Kate Chopin), 《弗兰肯斯坦》(1998; a translation, the original: Frankenstein by Mary Shelley), 《斯通家史札记》(1999; a translation, the original: The Stone Diaries by Carol Shields ), 《遗产》 (2000; a translation, the original: The Legacy by Stephen Frey),《时时刻刻》 (2003; a translation, the original: The Hours by Michael Cunningham), and 23 articles on Keats, Austen, Wordsworth, Browning, Mary Shelley, Faulkner, Shakespeare, Chopin, Coleridge, etc., published mainly in first-rate and core journals in China.

In addition, Professor Liu is also a recipient of a number of outstanding awards at the university and provincial levels.
